Visiting & Booking

How do I make an appointment?

The easiest way is via WhatsApp — simply message us and one of our stylists will help you find a time that suits you.

Do you accept walk-ins?

We’re an appointment-only salon, so we don’t take walk-ins. Booking ahead lets us give every client our full, unhurried attention — just message us on WhatsApp to secure your spot.

What are your opening hours?

We’re open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Where are you located?

You’ll find us at Suite 106, Rawoot Square, Rylands, Cape Town — easy to reach from Rondebosch East, Crawford, Sybrand Park, Athlone and the surrounding areas.

Is there parking?

Yes — there’s a free parking lot as well as free street parking, so you can arrive relaxed.

Is the salon wheelchair accessible?

Absolutely. We have a wheelchair-accessible entrance, toilet, seating and parking.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major cards (Visa & Mastercard, debit and credit), contactless tap payments, and cash.

Our Salon & Services

Is Merci Hair a ladies-only salon?

Yes — we’re a proudly women-owned, ladies-only salon, creating a warm, comfortable space where you can truly relax.

Do you cut men’s hair?

We specialise in ladies’ hair only, so we don’t offer men’s services.

What services do you offer?

A full range of ladies’ hair services — precision cuts, our signature hand-painted balayage, colour (full colour, toners and root tints), treatments such as hair Botox and Brazilian Blow Out, and styling including blow-outs, flat-iron, waves and curls.

Are you balayage specialists?

We are — balayage is our signature. Our colourists hand-paint every balayage for a soft, natural, lived-in finish that grows out beautifully. Read more about our balayage.

Do you do hair extensions?

Not at this time — we focus on cutting, colour, treatments and styling.

Do I get a consultation before my service?

Always. Every service begins with a personal consultation, and we carry out a strand test before any colour service — so we can recommend the best result for your hair, face shape, tone and lifestyle.

Timing & Maintenance

How long does a balayage take?

Typically 1 to 2 hours, depending on your hair’s length and density.

How long does a colour service take?

Usually 1 to 2 hours, again depending on your hair’s length, density and the service you choose.

Do I need a full head of balayage on my first visit?

Yes — for new clients we do a full head, so we can create the perfect base for softer, easier top-ups in future.

How often should I come in for maintenance?

Balayage is wonderfully low-maintenance — most clients return every 3 to 4 months for a refresh or toner. If you colour your roots, every 4 to 6 weeks keeps things looking fresh. We’ll tailor a schedule to your hair at your consultation.

Pricing & Policies

How much does balayage cost?

Our balayage starts from R1000 (short), R1200 (medium) and R1400 (long). Final pricing depends on length and density — see our full price list.

Why do prices vary?

Hair is personal — your final price depends on length, density and the combination of services, all of which we’ll confirm with you at your consultation.

Do you require a deposit to book?

No deposit is needed to secure your appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

We simply ask for 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. There’s no penalty or fee — it just lets us offer the slot to another client.

Products & Aftercare

What products do you use?

We use a curated range of exclusive, salon-professional products, chosen to deliver the best and healthiest results for your hair.

Do you sell hair products I can use at home?

Yes – we stock a selected range of professional haircare for home maintenance, including brands such as Davines and Milkshake. Just ask your stylist to recommend the right shampoo, conditioner and treatments to keep your hair and colour looking their best between visits.

How do I look after my colour at home?

To keep your colour vibrant and your hair healthy: use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner, wash with luke-warm rather than hot water, always apply a heat protectant before styling, treat your hair to a weekly nourishing mask, and limit excessive heat and direct sun where you can. Your stylist will give you tailored advice and recommend the right products for your hair at your appointment.
